Auto shipping tips

Auto shipping services are a good way to transport your vehicle anywhere. As the population increases, numbers of auto shipping companies have advanced their services to local markets. With such a pack of companies you have to be really measured in choosing the right carrier for your vehicle.

The first step is to find a list of vehicle shipping companies. The best place to start is internet. Simply search for car transportation companies in your city, and you should be able to pull up at least five to six companies. If you don't have access to internet, you can find auto transporters in local phonebooks. Now that you gathered a list of companies, it's time to advance to the following step.

As you start calling companies on your list, it is valuable to ask the correct questions. Begin by asking if they are licensed and insured company. Auto shipping companies similar to moving companies must be licensed with their State and Department of Transportation and also required to carry insurance. You should also ask what type of equipment they are using. Now that you have confirmed insurance and license information, you should request a price quote and what types of payment they accept. Most companies will accept cash and all major credit cards. Remember that many auto transporting companies will require a partial deposit to book your spot on the auto carrier and in most cases they will ask for a full payment before dispatch. After getting the quotes and talking to some service providers, it's time to select what company to hire. Generally, most consumers will go with the less expensive price, but it's a good idea to read reviews of the company. There are many moving blogs and sites where you can find reviews from past customers.

At last, make sure to tell them where you will need the car dropped off. If you the vehicle dropped off at a particular location, make sure to clear this with them because every company has its own set of rules. You will be charged extra for this service too.

With these tips as a general outline and a bit of search, you shouldn't have any problems selecting the right auto transporting company. Do not forget to ask all your questions because the companies you will be calling are there to assist you and have invested interest in making a point you are a happy customer at the end of the process.

  1. Good tips- and I'm a military brat so I know about moving. Also something to consider is price- cheap moving companies are not easy to come by. US-1 Van Lines fits the bill, though.
